Portland Birthday

I have always liked celebrating my birthday with a little travel.  This year’s destination was Portland, Oregon.  Serene planned a great weekend and wow, what a great town!  Gorge-ous sights, some of the friendliest folks west of Minneapolis, great food (Pine State Biscuits is amazing…the soundtrack is even better than the food!), and unforgettable signs.  Signs??  Yes, signs.  I cannot imagine why I wouldn’t visit at least once a year.  Loved it.

Getting Around in Palo Alto

I haven’t been in the best spirits lately, and part of why is that I haven’t been shooting very much.  This afternoon, I forced my way out the door and down to Palo Alto to meet up with some fellow photographers for a photo walk.  I ended up walking alone and, using one wide-angle lens, I focused on capturing symbols of how people get themselves from place to place.

the dog is unattractive (to me) but looks awesome in your amazing shot. and i love the teal bike handle bars. makes me think my beautiful bike needs a photo shoot with you too…capture its true beauty thru a d.u.eye, you know?

Nice theme, Dana! I especially like the bike detail shots, zipcar, and the blurred traffic.

Makes me miss Palo Alto a lot! Great captures Dana – love the movement in that final shot.

2010…the Appendix

As I was putting the lid on last year’s image library (which basically means I was moving the files off my computer to my 3 backup locations), I came across lots of images that I really love but hadn’t shared.  Let’s face it, when you take 40,000 images a year, not even a loving mother will sit through them all.  But here are 20 moments from 2010 that caught my eye the second time around.

Trying to figure out where my pic was?! Didn’t I see you in 2010????

Published! – Digital Camera Magazine

In October, I had an image published in Digital Camera Magazine!  The mag, based in the UK, is actually my favorite photography magazine of the dozen or so titles that constantly litter the floor of my office.  The image is of a pretty well-hidden stained glass window along the High Line park in Manhattan.  Someday I may print it very large and hang it in my office.  But for now I’ll just enjoy it on page 14 of Issue 104.  It can be seen in the original gallery here.

Fantastic news — congratulations, well done! :)

Congratulations Dana!

Congratulations! How did you choose which of your thousands of photos to submit to the magazine?

Congrats on getting published. I love viewing your photos; I’m glad many others have had a chance to see your work as well.

I love these – ESP. The NYC street shot. Bio , machine, concrete all ensnarled w colors and heat. Really good.

Being an old school photographer that goes way back before digital was even a possibility on anyone’s mind, I find your photography wonderful and refreshing. So often the photography being produced today is just about what can I do with it after I’ve snapped some picture. You have an excellent mix of pre-visualization with enough digital post to add a wow factor without it becoming the whole purpose of the image. I love your work!
