Yoga Mission

Sometimes the most fun shoots are just spontaneous.  Shauna, in addition to being a PhD, a hip-hop lover, and an Under Armor-sponsored health and fitness expert, is a good friend of mine.  We went up to San Francisco looking for some cool art to shoot in front of and we found it on Bryant Street.  Shauna spent two hours exhausting herself so that I could take a few pics.  Along the way, we befriended the FedEx guy, got advice from a stranger who insisted that I had no idea what I was doing, and were encouraged to “F*** Ansel; be the Malcolm X of photography!”  Uhh….I’ll do my best?  Thanks for being a great sport, Shauna.  And for doing your best to make the rest of us look like slackers.  Knowing how sore you were the next day somehow makes me feel like I got a little exercise by association.  If only it could be so easy.

Wow!!! Amazing shots! Amazing asanas!!! What a great team effort! Are you submitting these to Yogo Journal?

Huddart Park

Serene had never been to Huddart Park, and I hadn’t been in at least 7 years (which is almost like never having gone), so we decided to check it out yesterday afternoon.  Grabbing my camera bag was kind of an afterthought.  Really happy that I did.  Our 6pm walk was full of two things: bloodthirsty mosquitoes and some amazing light.  Here are a couple of my favorite shots of the day.

Lake Tahoe with the GF1

Once again, I traveled light during the 3-day holiday weekend.  I’m talking camera gear, not clothing.  We decided to road trip to Tahoe.  Our place was fantastic and the weather was even better; I’m convinced that Tahoe’s summers are much more reliably gorgeous than its winters.  I brought just my Panasonic GF1 with a 20mm f/1.7 prime lens, a flash, and a battery charger.  I thought that I would eventually miss not being able to zoom with a compact camera, but so far, not at all.  The 20mm lens is incredibly fast, captures great images, and I just zoom on foot!   Here are a handful of favorites.

Daddy & Me Photo Contest

In honor of Father’s Day, Red Tricycle is sponsoring a photo contest called Daddy&Me.  One of my clients submitted an image from a shoot I did with them from the holiday season.  What do you know?!  It was chosen as a finalist.  Take a spin by the site to see this image and the other finalists.  And feel free to vote your heart;-).

The winner should be announced within the next week.   Thanks, Jennifer!

Puma

One of the great unforeseen benefits of Serene’s blog, What to Wear Running, is that she gets to try out and review running gear.  Puma was gracious enough to ask her to test drive their latest, so we took advantage of some perfect weather and did a run/shoot/review in the foothills.  What else would we do on a Saturday afternoon?  Puma also very generously included a full outfit and shoes for me.  The shoes, Puma Faas 300′s, are the absolute lightest things that I’ve ever worn.  3.5 ounces each.  Ridiculous.  And trust me when I say that my gear is even more colorful (and coordinated) than hers, but you’ll have to check out her blog to see it in all its glory.
