There really isn’t very much I can add beyond what’s conveyed in my smile in the last picture. I never would have imagined that I would get another chance to photograph Barack Obama. The first time was on August 17th, 2008. On that day, I was doing only my second professional photo shoot, sweating through three layers of clothing, and more focused on giving then-Senator Obama a direct order than securing a picture with the candidate (mission accomplished on the barking orders thing, in case you were wondering). But no picture in ’08. Here’s to waiting 7.5 years to undo the results of ridiculously poor judgment: this time…”I need you to take a couple steps back, Mr President”…AND a picture. Shout out to moms for earnestly imploring me to get a photo this time around.

    WOW

The warmth in these photos made me think of King –> Obama’s ‘arc of the moral universe….’ invocation. I clearly needed the encouragement today, cause …. POTUS45 is CRAY

    Beautiful shots.

I’ve finally found a tournament that I might like as much as the US Open. The BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells was amazing. Serena’s return was an absolute tear-jerker and my favorite moment, but watching the game’s best players from the front row of the outer stadiums was a very close runner-up. Don’t know what took me so long to get down to SoCal to check this out.

20 years since Jon Theodore and I have seen one another.  Since we were classmates at Gilman School in Baltimore.  In the meantime, he’s become an acclaimed drummer, first for The Mars Volta, now with One Day As A Lion, a collaboration with Zack de la Rocha (click here to check out “Wild International”, one of my favorite ODAAL songs).  After his most recent tour, we were able to catch up in the Haight.  Good times!

The ADCOLOR Awards celebrated its 5th anniversary in September, and for the second year I was able to photograph the 3 day event in Beverly Hills.  It is so hard to put into words how incredible this organization is. Congratulations to Tiffany R. Warren (ADCOLOR’s founder), the ADCOLOR team, and this year’s honorees, which included George Lopez & Spike Lee.  As you’ll see below, I also had a chance to meet Dule Hill, and as a HUGE fan of The West Wing, that might have been the not-so-secret highlight of my weekend.  A couple of friends will attest that I kind of nudged them out of my way when I spotted him.  Ahem….I had to get the shot, right?
